Peter Thorvald Jensen, painter, etcher, and commercial artist, was born on 17 March 1895 in Odense, Denmark to Hans Chr. Jensen and Gjertrud Marie Jensen. He immigrated in 1914, settled in Chicago, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen on 12 June 1918. On 8 November 1919 he married Pearl Neser in Chicago. Several references state that he studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Jensen served the United States in both World Wars. In 1950, he is listed as living in Brea in Orange County, California and working as commercial artist for a newspaper. He joined the Print Makers Society of California and in 1964 produced the gift print for its associate membership.
His work, sometimes signed Thorvald Jensen, is represented in the collections of the Smart Museum of Art, University of Chicago, Illinois; the Beach Museum of Art, Manhattan, Kansas; and the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.
Peter Thorvald Jensen died in Southern California on 29 May 1965.
