Printmaker Alfredo Mereles was born Jaime Alfredo Mereles in Mexico City, Mexico in 1943. Extensive information on his life and education are scarce, but it is known that he joined the Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP) in the early 1980s and continued to teach as a Master Printer in its various iterations as recently as 2009. In 2010 he was appointed its director. His works are held in the collections of the Museo Nacional de la Estampa, Mexico and the Yale University Art Gallery, USA, among others.
