Born in California on Aug. 22, 1891, Evangeline Benbow was active in the San Francisco Bay area art scene during the 1930s. She came from a prominent Berkeley family who built and maintained one of Northern California’s largest ranch hotels, the Benbow Inn, where much of her art decorated the walls.
Her name was Misenhimer at the time of her demise in Oakland on
Nov. 29, 1940. Exh: GGIE, 1939.
