Arthur Stewart was born in London in 1877.  He studied art at the Westminster School and at the Westminster School of Art with William Mouat Loudan.  Known primarily as a classical painter of historical scenes he also did some illustration, including posters.  Stewart became a member of the Royal British Academy in 1899.  Arthur Stewart died in London in 1941.
