Kurt Willem Emil Tessmann, born in Leipzig, Germany on September 10, 1909, was a German painter and illustrator of children's books from the 1950s until his death at age 53 in 1962. His best-known works include his illustrations for the Lone Girl books by Poul Nörgaard. Kurt Tessmann died in Munich, Germany in February of 1962.
