Jane L. Swensen (née Jane Bernice Lewis), painter and interior decorator, was born in Utah to Howard Claude and Ella Lewis on 20 June 1903. Her family resided in Baltimore, Maryland in 1910 and they are listed as living in Cedar City, Utah in the 1920 US census. Jane Lewis married Milton Everett Swensen, a commercial artist, in Illinois in 1925. They were listed as living in Chicago Illinois in 1930 but by the next year they were residing in South Bend, Indiana. The 1940 US census records her vocation as an art painter and interior decorator whose home is in St. Paul, Minnesota. The nomadic Swensen family’s final move was to Salt Lake City, Utah where it is recorded they were living in 1950.

Jane Bernice Lewis Swensen died in Salt Lake City, Utah on 10 July 1996.
