Biography

Printmaker, painter, and pastelist Greta Delleaney was born in London in 1884. She trained at Westminster School of Art and then at the Royal Academy under Walter Sickert. It was under his tutelage that developed her inspiration in Impressionism, which carried through her artwork for the entirely of her career. She was active as an etcher in London from 1913 to 1940, exhibiting with the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers, of which she was an associate member. She worked for a time in New York and San Francisco, where she was a member of the California Printmakers. After the Second World War she moved to Cheltenham, England, and taught at Cheltenham Art School, becoming principal for a time. She died in 1968.
