During the years that the Iron Curtain cast a shadow on Eastern Europe, artists had no means to get exposure for their work therefore little information can be found on the lives of the artists. According to the owner of this work, it was smuggled out of Czechoslovakia during the Prague Spring of 1968 when the country briefly opened up and people were given the freedom to travel and art was hung in museums and galleries.
