William George Allan was born in Everett, Washington in 1936 and he studied at the San Francisco Art Institute.  During the 1960s he taught at the University of California in Berkeley and Davis, and now he currently lives in San Francisco.

A modernist artist, his work are surreal and abstract.

He exhibited at La Jolla Museum in 1971; Art Institute of Chicago in 1972; and Indianapolis Museum in1972.
