Esther Meyer, a painter, printmaker and sculptor, was born in Coos Bay, Oregon on November 4, 1897. About 1922 she moved to California and settled permanently in the San Francisco Bay Area. Primarily self taught as an artist, she used her basement as a studio. She did attend some classes at the San Francisco Art Association where she studied printmaking with Nelson Poole and painting with Constance and Spencer Mackey and Lee Randolph.
Her work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco Museum of Art, Philadelphia Printmakers, American Society of Etchers and the Crocker Art Museum. She was a member of the San Francisco Art Assn. and the California Society of Etchers.
Esther Meyer died on December 13, 2000 in Belvedere, Marin County, California.
