Painter and printmaker Georg Fritz was born on June 26, 1884 in Dresden, Germany. His father was painter Max Fritz, under whom Georg studied at the Berlin Academy before enrolling at the Berlin-Charlottenburg Art Academy, developing an interest in landscape and architectural art. After graduating, he worked as a freelance painter and printmaker in Berlin, and throughout the 1910s he traveled throughout Europe, including Italy and France. Throughout the 1930s, 40s, and 50s he worked as a commercial illustrator and was commissioned by the city of Berlin to publish a portfolio of architectural images of the city. He died in Bavaria in 1967.
