Born in Tokyo in 1902 printmaker Jinbo Tomoyo's birth name was Teisaburo. At age 17 he became the student of Hiresaki Eiho and later studied with Ito Shinsui. He worked as an illustrator for the magazine Kodan Kurabo and illustrated the novels published by the newspaper Kokumin Shinbun and illustrated the historical novel 'Zenigata Heiji Torimonoko' which was published by the newspaper as a serial. Tomoyo was known as a bijinga printmaker, though his work is uncommon. Bijinga is a generic term for pictures of "beautiful women" in Japanese art, especially in woodblock printing.
Jinbo Tomoyo died in Tokyo in1994.
