Oregon-based printmaker and digital artist Bruce Allen Bayard was born in Orange, California, in 1958. Interested in visual art from an early age, he was primarily self-taught in drawing and painting, and briefly took courses at the University of New Mexico, Abuquerque and California State University, Long Beach. His introduction to printmaking took place at Spectrum Press in Orange, where he worked in etching and collagraphy. In 2000, Bayard switched from physical to digital art and currently works in photo-based, ditially altered works, both in print and in electronic formats, the latter of which he combines with performance art. He was awarded the Purchase Award, Medford, OR (1989); Best of Show, Circle of Merit, Rogue Gallery, Medford (1996); Purchase Award, Art About Agriculture, Corvallis, OR (2011 and 2015).
