Despite a prolific career, limited information is found on the life of painter, printmaker, and designer Koosje Wagenaar. She was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 1943, and studied graphic arts at the Reitvald Academy in Amsterdam, where she became a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists BBK. She is best known for her etchings and aquatints of minimalist landscapes, interiors, and surreal scenes in layered, transparents inks. Her work is held in the collections of the Rijks Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, Haags Gemeentemuseum, and Museum Helmond among others, and commissioned large-scale works can be found in a municipal building of Zeewolde and a metro station in Rotterdam.
