Little is found on the life Betty Schmetz, also known as Betty Schmetz Muylaert, who was born in Haaltert, East Flanders, Belgium in 1915. She attended the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Liege from 1956 to 1958, and exhibited broadly, including in Belgium, The Netherlands, USA, Austria, Korea, Italy and India. Betty Schmetz died in Belgium in 2009
