Printmaker Anna Mary (Mae) Aiello was born Anna Mary LiCavoli in Terrasini, Sicily, to Giuseppi and Concetta Ventimiglia LiCavoli on January 8, 1903. No information is found reagrding her art education or career.

Her family emigrated to the United States in 1910, and Anna's grade school education was brief, ending in fourth grade. She married at age eighteen to commercial fisherman Joseph (Guiseppo) Aiello, with whom she raised their six children in the San Francisco Bay Area. Anna died in Martinez, California, on March 27, 1995. 

Other names found in her official government records include Annie Aiello, Anna M. LaCavoli, and the spelling "Aeillo" and "Arello" of her last name.
