Printmaker and painter Yoshiko Noma was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1934. As mentioned in the book "About Prints" by Stanley William Hayter (Oxford University Press, 1962), Noma comes from a family of Japanese artisans. She studied at Tokyo Fine Arts School and then traveled to France to study printmaking with Hayter at Atelier 17. She was there from 1958 to 1963, before settling in Italy to continue her artistic pursuits. She works and exhibits in Milan, Italy. Noma is represented by galleries in Japan, Italy, USA, and France.
