Eliza Bellows King Dooley was born in on May 31, 1880 in Hudson, Wisconsin to Dr. Charles Frederick and Ella Frances Hoyt King. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1900 and soon began teaching piano and organ. She married Henry Williamson Dooley (1872-1832) an importer and exporter merchant of San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1904. Eliza wrote one the first and most famous books in English about the cuisine of Puerto Rice, aptly titled "The Puerto Rican Cookbook" published in 1948. She also wrote the book "Old San Juan", originally published in 1956 by Pan American Book Company, San Juan Puerto Rico.
Eliza Bellows King Dooley died on August 7, 1958 in Condado Municipality, Puerto Rico, USA and is buried in the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamon, Bayamon Municipality, Puerto Rico, USA. We have no information about her art background.
