Little is known about the life and education of Alfred C. Rodriguez, born in Mexico in 1862. He studied at S.F. School of Design under Jules Tavernier while still a teenager and established studio in Oakland by age 18. Harry Cassie Best was his pupil. Rodriguez died of tuberculosis in San Francisco's German Hospital at the age of 28.
