Little information is available about Mary E. Hart except that she was born in 1836 and is noted for her watercolors of violets, still life paintings and floral art. Hart studied art at Yale between 1878 and 1880. She exhibited her art in the Boston Art Club, National Academy of Design, Art Institute of Chicago and the Institute of Fine Arts of Pennsylvania. She exhibited in the National Academy of Design in 1883; Boston Art Club between 1893-1900; AIC between 1895-96. Mary E. Hart died in New York in 1899.
