Little is found on the life and art education of Harold Denison, though it is known he was a commercial and fine artist, illustrating for Life Magazine, The New Yorker, and several newspapers. He was born in Richmond, Michigan on September 17, 1887, and died in Boston Corners, New York on July 17, 1940. His work is held in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, TX, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, PA.
