San Francisco-based painter, sculptor, and printmaker David Maxim was born in Los Angeles in 1945. He earned his MA at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1968, and in 1975 he held his first solo exhibition at the Anapamu Gallery in Santa Barbara. He has since go on to exhibit widely throughout the US and in Germany. He currently lives and work in San Francisco.
Maxim's work is held in the collections of the British Museum, London; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA; the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA; Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Novato, CA; the Polk Museum of Art, FL; the Ashley Gibson Museum of Art at Florida Southern College, FL; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA; and the Figge Art Museum, IA, among many others.
