Description
Frank Rowe's extraordinary life as a soldier, activist, and - later in life - a quadreplegic led him to create works that powerfully reflected the human condition, always with an introspective bent. Here, he depicts a family in hiding from Nazi troops, whose menacing formation appears machine-like on the dark horizon. The hiding figures crouch together, adults comforting children, heads bent in prayer.
