This is a large, intricate experimental print that appears to be a combination of color woodcut, screen printing and saturated paper. It was purchased in the 1980s from a dealer who specialized in African-American art as a David C. Driskell. It has a printed signature in pencil. The dealer is no longer alive.
After contacting Mr. Driskell, who loved the work, we determined it is not his. Back to the drawing board. I have a second print done in the same manner, unsigned. This was not done by an amateur, but I have had no luck identifying it. A curator suggested New Mexico artist William Lumpkins and, after speaking with him the result was the same: loved the print, didn't do it. Any help will be appreciated.
