Description

Koenigsegg had a fondness for the work of the artists included in Les Maîtres de l’Affiche (Masters of the Poster), the prestigious publication from Jules Cheret highlighting the designs of France’s leading poster artists during the famed Belle Epoque era. Among them was Cheret’s pupil Lucien Lefevre (1850 - 1902) whose work is among the most recognizable, with poster designs for a variety of popular circuses, Electricine lighting, and travel advertisements.

“Cacao Lacte” was made by chocolate manufacturing company Charles Gravier, whose milk chocolate was particularly popular. The script in the image loosely translates to “Charles Gravier’s Milk Chocolate / Superior to all known chocolates and cocoas / 6 francs per kilo”. A schoolboy in a wide-brimmed straw hat holds a cup of hot chocolate, which he attempts to keep away from an overly curious white dog.
