Stanley William Hayter

Hayter executed this plate during a demonstration at the Art Department, University of Ohio, Columbus, Ohio. The drawing on the plate was made using a Flowmaster pen, the plate was then splattered with varnish and deep bit. It was printed using an intaglio wipe and a relief roll, methods that had been explored at Atelier 17. The edition was printed by Hayter and Atelier 17. There is stray ink in the margins, not unusual in an Atelier 17 print.

Hayter used black for the intaglio, a phthalo green applied with a hard roller and a red-violet, applied with a soft roller.
