Dates for Nisaburo Ito differ, with a birthdate of 1905 to 1910, and a death date of 1988 to 2001. As well, he didn't always add his stamped artist's seal to his work, and thus some of his prints are misattributed to his publishers, including Uchida and the artist/publisher Tomikichito Tokuriki, whose stamped Western signature is in the lower right margin of this work. Despite these confusions, Ito's shin-hanga work is still among the most reconized of mid-20th century Japan.
