This vintage photograph by William Schoeb is of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The Marin headlands are in the distance. A sign under the span reads "Bethlehem Steel Company."
William D. Schoeb (1909-1997) was a photographer for the Work Projects Administration in the 1930's. He photographed Big Basin and Mount Diablo state parks, among others, and provided photos that were used as models by Clarkson Dye. Schoeb worked in such parks as Big Basin Redwoods SP and Mount Diablo SP.
There is a large collection of his WPA works in the California State Parks Museum.
