Pier Susan Voulkos began her studies in art with her father, artist Peter Voulkos, and quickly established an independent style as well as an interest in unusual mediums. By the late 1970s she was working not only in pastels and oils, but in polymer acrylic sculpture and jewelry making. Reflected in all of her work is an exploration of saturated color and movement, as seen in this untitled still life with flowers in a vase, a figure in the background becoming entwined with the arrangement.
