Description
Harvey Wilder Bentley, known as Wilder Bentley, studied art under Porter Garnett in San Francisco, California. He started Atchetypal Press in San Francisco, around 1935. Bentley stopped printing in WWII and taught English at San Francisco State College. Bentley was a close friend of artist Chiura Obata, who taught him the art of Sumi painting with ink.
