Description
One of the last great "New School" of American reproductive wood engravers, Alsatian-born Henry Wolf won the only Grand Prize in printmaking at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, where he exhibited 144 woodengravings. This is one of his masterfully engraved blocks, depicting the sculpture Seated Boxer, by Apollonius, c. 225 BC, at the Terme Museum Rome, Italy.
