This is an impression of Phillips' rare, first color woodcut, which vary in color from proof to proof. There is a description of how he created this print on page 27 in Michael Gribbon's "Walter J. Phillips"; Chapter IV, "The Colourful Discovery". This is the only impression we have found that is signed within the image, with the margins trimmed and indicates that this one one of the first impressions he pulled, before he mastered the registering on the paper.
