In addition to painting and printmaking, Sonoma County-based artist Mark A. Perlman has worked extensively in encaustic painting, primarily on large format matrices. Here, in this collaborative work between the artist and the master printers at Electric Press (then Trillium Press) in San Francisco, he has produced the same luminosity achieved with layered wax and acrylics, only now within the confines of a smaller matrix - a printed digital photograph. No information is lost, however, and within these confines Perlman makes the work appear to pop off of the paper, at once jubilant and soft.
