This ink and watercolor wash drawing was done on a beautiful sheet of blue-gray, laid paper. This portrait of a matronly woman was done when the artist was 51 when he was teaching at the Staatliche Kunstschule, before he was dismissed by Hitler's new rules for art in 1937.
