Description
This color woodengraving by Meta Hendel, an homage to Georges Rouault, is "dedicated to Fenner Fuller March 31, 1947."
Fenner Fuller (01/13/02 – 04/01/64) and his wife Esther had a restaurant in Oakland, California and were art patrons who helped form the Oakland Museum. The restaurant was also an art gallery where the Fullers exhibited the likes of Louis Seigrist and Johan Hagemeyer. The logo for the restaurant was a clown, though not this image.
See our biography above for information on Cohen and her technique.
