"Wisconsin 1965" is a mixed media collagraph, done in 1965. The irregular platemark measures 14-3/8 x 16-3/4". This impression is pencil signed, titled, dated twice and editioned "1/20" by the artist in the lower margin. This print was published and printed by the artist on a cream wove paper.
Atelier 17 trained printmaker Ramon Edward Oeschger did this collagraph in 1965, probably while in Madison at the University of Wisconsin. He used various intaglio techniques to create the image, including collaging materials to the surface of the plate and printing both relief (from the surface) and intaglio (beneath the surface).
It is not certain if he then cut the plate to create the shape, or if he cut the plate prior to working the surface; either way, it adds an extra interesting element of stress to the composition.
