Description
This is the Hata Men Gate in the Tartar Wall at the Chienmen Station, Beijing, China. Katharine Jowett is thought to have only produced around 20 prints, and of those very few were numbered editions. Her prints were different from traditional Japanese woodcuts and the woodcuts of her contemporaries in that she didn't use a keyblock; instead, she layered the colors on top of one another, producing a unique rich tone throughout.
