Description
Israeli printmaker Mireille Kramer spent her first 19 years in Egypt and returns there for the imagery in this color etching and aquatint, printed in brown ink. Ancient Egyptian figures appear on a wall through the darkness. Kramer juxtaposes the images of the gods Seth and Anubis with three "modern" women.
To add highlights to the image the artist adds gold leaf to some of the hieroglyphics and relics and white gouache to the reliquaries in the foreground.
