This print is from a portfolio of 14 photographs done by Minor White as a commission for peony grower William Gratwick (1903 - 1988). The portfolio was done in an edition of 10, four of which burned; three went to Gratwick's daughters, one to Gratwick, and two to assistant G. Seaman, from whom this was originally purchased. This was a proof from outside the edition of 10.
