Description
Curator Janet Flint, in the catalog "Jacob Kainen / Prints, A Retrospective," notes that this work was "commissioned by Strike 400 of Washington D.C., to produce an edition of 375, plus 25 proofs. When the organization went out of busines, after 35 impressions had been sold, the remaining 340 were returned to the artist, who reduced the edition to 150 impressions, which were numbered with 36/150. The remaining prints were destroyed. The 25 proofs were never returned to the artist." This does not explain the numbering of this impression.
