Description
"L'Ete" (Summer) features an agricultural family at work on their warm-weather tasks: sheering sheep, threshing and sheaving wheat, and hauling water. In the lower right, women and children take a break in their chores to eat a midday meal. This woodengraving, part of a series of four allegorical works pertaining to the seasons. Two were executed by Johannes "Jan" Sadeler, and two by Raphael Sadeler.
