This image was initially done by Braque as an exhibition poster for his engravings at Berggruen & Co. Gallery in Paris, November, 1953. It was published in an edition of 750 and included the following text in the lower left image: "Braque Graveur / Berggruen & Cie / 70 Rue de l'Université / Novembre - Decembre 1953" and is listed as number 7 in Mourlot's listing of his poster. The image was also used for the cover of the exhibition catalog.
It appears that this lithograph was reprinted by Mourlot in 1963, the year of the artist's death, in an edition of 200, without the text of the 1953 poster. This is printed on a heavy Arches paper. Christies sold an impression like this, numbered 45/200 at auction 2312 in New York on May 5, 2010, described as "from the edition, before letters."
