Description
"Construction" is arguably Harry Sternberg's most noted image. It has come to represent Social Realism of the '30's, the Depression, the WPA and the construction that was created and the labor movement that evolved. This etching was published by Weyhe Gallery in New York in an edition of 20. In 1935 after participating in the WPA screenprinting division Sternberg re-created this image as his first color serigraph with the title "Riveter." He was able to publish many more impressions at a cheaper price.
