Description
This woodcut is by Washington state artist W. Corwin Chase who, with his brother Waldo S. Chase lived in a tepee on Mt. Ranier in the 1920's. Their adventure is chronicled in the book "Tepee Fires". This impression depicts Mount Ranier on a cloudy day. The inks are a subtle blue and white, though the verso of the sheet is saturated with pinks and purples. The printing is crisp and almost 3 dimensional when viewed in a raking light. The margins are trimeed to about 1/8" and the right margin is the paper's deckled edge. For more information on Chase please see our Biography above.
