Description
This is the only known signed impression of the 15 known proofs of this wood engraving.
This small woodengraving was the headpiece for the colophon to De Rerum Natura, published by the Limited Editions Club of Los Angeles in 1957 in an edition of 1500. De Rerum Natura (The Nature of Things) was originally written by Titus Lucretius Carus and is translated here into English by William Ellery Leonard. Paul Landacre carved thirty wood engravings to illlustrate the book. The wood engravings were printed from the original blocks by the Ward Ritchie Press.
