Description
This abstract oil painting is painted on canvas and is trimmed to the image, not stretched. It was from the collection of his friend, the California painter Emerson Woelffer. The work is signed in the lower center.
A matboard on the verso of the frame has the dedication: "Arthur Osver / "The Columns" / 16.75 x 8" / For Emerson / With Love/ AOsver / 6/99."
The canvas has color notations and is dated 1975 on verso. The date of 1999 is the date Osver gave the work to Woelffer as a gift. This may well have been a portion of a larger canvas that the artist trimmed out and signed.
