Description
Margaret Jordan Patterson learned the techniques of color woodcut from Ethel Mars while visiting Paris in 1910. She created a number of color woodcuts depicting landscapes but turned to floral imagery in the 1920s. Her floral woodcuts are exquisite renderings of various flowers and vessels silhouetted against backgrounds of solid color. "Petunias" clarion the arrival of summer.
