Description
An early 20th century watercolor of the harbor at Marblehead, Massachusetts, with boats at anchor and a layer of fog above. Of note is the simplicty Hammell employed to produce this work, a style he appears to have reserved for depicting bodies of water in order to capture the serenity of the scene. Hammell was from Ohio but traveled throughout the eastern United States and Europe to sketch and paint.
