The Emil Orlik website (http://www.orlikprints.com/pages/single/201.html) states about this work: "....extremely RARE etching; this is only the second impression we have seen, having sold the first some 10 years ago; it is not illustrated in any of the literature on Orlik's work."
However, the etching is from a 1926 portfolio of prints attached to a special issue of a German journal "Originalgraphik zum Ludwig Volkmann - Sonderheft des Archivs für Buchgewerbe und Gebrauchsgraphik. Leipzig: Archivs für Buchgewerbe und Gebrauchsgraphik, 1926." (Archive of Book Design and Applied Art).
The portfolio contained twelve lithographs, etchings and woodcuts by twelve Germanic artists of the period. All prints are signed by the artists and the edition was 250.Though done as a large edition there seem to be few that are extant.
