Description
This abstract expressionist lithograph was printed in 1961 at Tamarind Institute in Los Angeles, which had been founded in 1960. Miyasaki had printed AbEx lithographs with Leon Goldin, Diebenkorn and Oliveira at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. Miyasaki shared some of his techniques with the Tamarind printers and helped print some editions for other artists. According to David Acton in "Tamarind - Forty Years" Miyasaki "executed seven of his own lithographs....The results were fresh and interrogative and took the artist in new directions. Miyasaki found a new calligraphic delicacy and clarity in charged crayon lines that varied broadly in tonal range."
